Hello! I am a new resident of Waterford, MI. I grew up in Rockford, IL. About 2 years ago, I decided to move to East Lansing while my boyfriend was finishing up his schooling at Michigan State University. There, I started my career in cosmetology, more specifically, body waxing. My boyfriend recently graduated and we moved to Waterford to be closer to his parents. I just opened up my own body waxing salon and hope to have a thriving business in the years to come. Blue Moon Body Waxing

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have 2 sisters who live back home in Illinois (one of which is expecting. I can’t wait to be an aunt!). My mom and dad both live there as well. My mother is a special education teacher and my father is a welder. My boyfriend just graduated MSU with an economics degree and a minor in Spanish and social science.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am a “body waxer”. There’s really no good word for it! I originally got into the cosmetology field because I love making people feel comfortable in their own skin, whether it be their hair, their nails etc. I am still in it for that reason today, but my favorite part about my job is the different kinds of people I meet everyday. Everyone is unique and brings different qualities to the table.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I love El Patio, Highland House, and Big Boy milkshakes!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have only lived and worked here for a couple months now.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would probably go on a road trip across the United States. I haven’t seen very much of it and I would love to stop at all the different landmarks and museums along the way!

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favorite movie is the Jim Carrey Grinch and my favorite tv show (at the moment) is Brooklyn nine nine!

Q: What advice would you give to people?
I would say the best piece of advice I could give is to laugh at yourself and also to let things go. Living life as care free as possible does wonders for your soul.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I’d like to renovate a van/small bus into a home and take a road trip.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I love the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, but my all time favorite is Journey.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would choose my friend who moved to Alabama. I haven’t seen her in a long time and I would probably take her to A&W.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
We have all sorts of yummy restaurants and fun things to do. It’s a lot different than anywhere else I’ve lived.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I am hoping for a thriving business and maybe to employ some people besides myself so I can expand my salon!

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I love to collect rocks and I always have. It’s so fun to see what you can find!

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The upper peninsula. I haven’t been for a long time but I remember thinking it was amazing how many hidden gems were so close to us!

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
My favorite month is probably June just because the weather is nice. My favorite holiday is Memorial Day because I love the fireworks and fairs and it’s the kickoff of summer. The best single day on the calendar is probably the summer solstice. I love the long days of sunshine!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
The breadsticks and cheese dip from highland house.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Random people throughout my day. When I see someone doing something nice, I think, how can I be better today?

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
I love the smell of coffee grounds and bonfires.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Calm, cozy, safe.
